# Interest Rates

The aforementioned [Borrowing Periods](/whitepaper/mefi-ecosystem/dapp/borrowing-periods.md) come with the following interest rates:

* 12-hour and 2-day periods - **4% interest rate**
* 24-hour and 4-day periods - **7% interest rate**

As mentioned in [Dapp](/whitepaper/mefi-ecosystem/dapp.md), the UI will indicate how much time is left on your borrowing period, as well as the total amount owed (including interest). 

$mefi token holders are not required to pay ***any*** interest on the borrowed ETH. The smart contract automatically detects if a connected wallet holds the $mefi token.
